Dear College Freshman // Ashja Thompson
I’m sure college is becoming increasingly stressful and demanding so I hope I can help you out with meeting new friends and managing classes.
When making new friends, it’s best to surround yourself with well-rounded people. Try not to associate yourself with people who don’t have your best interests in mind. If you’re religious, I would recommend joining a campus ministry. Making making friends there would be a good place to start. I joined a campus ministry my freshman year and I’ve maintained great relationships with them for years now. They’re a great source of support and strength when you need them.
When dealing with classes, having priorities in order is definitely a must. College isn’t free and I’m pretty sure you don’t want to pay for failing classes. Work hard, play later. If you’re having trouble, there’s always someone there to help utilize your resources.
I wouldn’t recommend taking on too much if you can’t handle it. I took six classes my freshman year and it was hard trying to maintain excellence in each one. The following semesters, I would only take a couple while also working and going to weekly ministry gatherings.
I wish you nothing but the best of luck and prosperity in everything you do. Stay blessed and make good decisions!
